Tarentel were founded in San Francisco, CA in 1995. The line-up evolved almost constantly over the years, and had included Jefre Cantu-Ledesma, Danny Grody, John Hughes, Patricia Kavanaugh, Kenseth Thibideau, Trevor Montgomery, Jeffrey Rosenberg, Jim Redd, Tony Cross, Steve Dye, and Paul Clipson. As often as their personnel changed, so did Tarentel's sound, shifting from melodic, instrumental guitar rock to a more free-form aesthetic that incorporated noise, drone, and psychedelic rock. In their final iteration, Tarentel's live performances were accompanied by Paul Clipson's original Super-8 film compositions.
